I am a Professor at the Department of Economics (School of Economics, Universitat de Barcelona) and a Researcher at the Barcelona Institut of Economics (IEB) where I run the Research Program ‘Cities’. I am the director of the UB Chair Urban Economics City of Barcelona. I am also a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and at CESifo.
My research interests include urban economics, economic geography and public economics.
Current research topics are: agglomeration economies and the location of people and firms; the impact of infrastructures on city growth; urban congestion and pollution, the effectiveness of city policies, land use regulation and city growth, the political economy of coastal destruction and the impact of social interactions on residential choice.
